Kennesaw State University Bailey School of Music will celebrate Black History Month with a festival of five concerts, beginning Feb. 17 and running through Feb. 25. “Moving Forward, Together” features a myriad of creative talent, including choral, jazz, orchestra, gospel, and even an interdisciplinary production.

Kennesaw State University’s Convocation Center echoed with sounds of jubilation this week as students participated in the time-honored tradition of the Commencement ceremonies. This week, nearly 3,000 students will walk across the stage in one of six ceremonies in which undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students will be awarded degrees from the University. Enjoy this look back at the sights and sounds of the week’s festivities. Congratulations to the Class of 2022!

Wriggling into a stretchy, full-body black suit with internal wires, Kennesaw State University senior Jordan Carter smiled. “I feel like a spy,” the dance major said as she zipped up the motion capture suit, put on the accompanying gloves and strapped an elastic crown to her head. Nearby, KSU assistant professor of dance Andrea Knowlton watched two stick-figure avatars on a laptop screen. Carter and junior Tyler Hayes admired their suits and made adjustments before going through a series of predetermined movements.

Kennesaw State University President Kathy Schwaig has named Ivan Pulinkala as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, following a nationwide search. He will assume the role on Dec. 1, 2022.

This fall, Kennesaw State University experienced another record enrollment, topping more than 43,000 students. This is the fourth consecutive year that enrollment has grown at Georgia’s third-largest university.

The Department of Dance at Kennesaw State University (KSU) has been approved for accreditation and associate membership in the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD). This recognition from NASD provides national validation and approval for the Department of Dance, the College of the Arts, and KSU.

The high-pitched beeps and whirring sounds coming from Room 465 in the Burruss Building at Kennesaw State University are unusual enough to draw attention. Students walking by peer through the glass and see a network of wires and dozens of contraptions – each about two feet tall with what looks like a wheel spinning on top. Upon taking a closer look, the machines are creating small figurines, seemingly from thin air.

Cheers and tears came together at the Kennesaw State University Convocation Center this week for spring Commencement.
